Bill Buckmaster, the long-time host of "Arizona Illustrated" on KUAT, is leaving to helm a radio program on The Jolt, KJLL 1330 AM.

The eponymous program will feature "in-depth analysis and perspective," Buckmaster said.

"I am very excited about this new opportunity to present to radio listeners a local, interview-driven talk show," says Buckmaster in a news release.

"I feel that this will be an opportunity for the community to hear from a wide range of newsmakers from many fields including politics, education, health, science, environment, international affairs and the media. 'Buckmaster' is a radio program that will focus on the guests and will allow listeners to make up their own minds on the important issues facing Tucson and Arizona."

"Buckmaster" will air 9 - 10 a.m., Monday through Friday, with a rebroadcast at 7 - 8 p.m., beginning Jan. 3.

"With local news and interviews declining in the market, Buckmaster fills a void of reduced local information.," said station manager John C. Scott, who hosts a long-running political talk show on the station.

The host will end his relationship with Arizona Public Media, the producer of "Arizona Illustrated," on Jan. 1. Buckmaster has been with the television program since its inception 23 years ago.
