Customs and Border Protection officers in Nogales seized more than $500,000 in heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine discovered hidden in an SUV dashboard on Monday, authorities said.

Officers arrested Ivan Lopez-Menchaca, 35, of Obregon, Sonora, Mexico, when a drug-sniffing dog alerted to the presence of a stash in the dashboard of his Nissan SUV during a secondary inspection at a border crossing, according to a news release from the agency.

Agents took apart the dash and found 36 pounds of heroin, worth an estimated $511,000, and more than five pounds of cocaine and methamphetamine worth a combined $70,000.

The suspect was handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the SUV and drugs were seized, the agency said.
