J.C. Scott: Flake hits Carmona on tobacco holdings

In an interview on the John C. Scott Show on Friday, U.S. Rep. Jeff Flake revealed that Dr. Richard Carmona recently sold mutual funds containing stocks in the tobacco giants Altria Group and Philip Morris International. The Carmona camp has responded that the former surgeon general did not know until recently that the funds had tobacco-related holdings.

Flake was on offense with endorsements from the U.S. and Arizona Chambers of Commerce and the National Rifle Association in the previous 24-hour period.

In the interview, the Republican Senate candidate talked about the border, health care, education, and his recently released "Plan for economic growth and prosperity." He also responded to criticism he has been receiving from veterans groups.

The Republican candidate for state Senate in LD9, Tyler Mott, talked about issues that differentiate him from opponent, state Rep. Steve Farley, including jobs and the economy, education and teachers, border security and illegal immigration.

Attorney Don Loose, legal advisor to the John C. Scott Show, joined John for our monthly segment, "Arizona Laws 101." Loose talked about the American Civil Liberties Union asking a judge to tell Attorney General Tom Horne he can't block marijuana dispensaries and covered Gov. Jan Brewer's appeal of a ruling on part of Arizona's SB 1070 immigration law.
