Agents seize $255K of heroin in Nogales bust
Customs and Border Protection officers seized 18 pounds of heroin worth an estimated $255,000 on Sunday after a man attempted to smuggle the drugs in a vehicle through the Nogales Port of Entry, authorities said.
CBP officers at the Dennis DeConcini crossing arrested Victor Adan Esparza-Arballo, 24, from Nogales, Sonora, after a drug dog alerted to the presence of drugs during a secondary inspection, a release from the agency said.
Officers discovered the drugs stashed beneath the rear seat of the BMW sedan.
The vehicle and drugs were seized and Esparza was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
