J.C. Scott: Is government shutdown the answer?

On Friday's edition:

We started the show with Arizona Education Association head Andrew Morrill, who gave a review of the new Common Core standards, the possibility of changing the program's name, additional cost involved with implementing the standards and the challenges to increasing education funding in Arizona.

29 min: We were joined by Southern Arizona News Examiner editor Emil Franzi, whodiscussed the Pima County Advisory Committee vote to put off the next bond election until 2015 or later, the U.S. House of Repetitiveness voting to defund the Affordable Care Act, proposed cuts to food stamps and new a push for gun control.

51 min: We continue the conversation with former chair of the Pima County Democratic Party, Jeff Rogers. The Democrat took exception to many of the points Franzi made taking, opposing views of cuts to food stamps and attempts to derail the Affordable Care Act. His other subjects included the Medicaid expansion battle, new Arizona election laws, announced candidatec for governor, immigration reform, possible candidates for Congress and this November's City Council elections.

We finished the show with Ward 6 Tucson City Councilman Steve Kozachik, who gave his take on the Broadway Corridor project, Ronstadt Transit Center, Prop. 401 and 402 and public transportation.
