Pima County Sheriff's Department detectives are asking the public's help finding a trio of thieves who have been breaking into vehicles in Pima County since mid-May, authorities said.

The suspects, a woman and two men, took purses, wallets, electronics, medication and credit cards from vehicles parked at the Rillito River walking path and nearby businesses, a PCSD spokesman said. The credit cards were used at various stores directly following the thefts, he said.

Investigators have obtained surveillance photos from businesses where some of the stolen credit cards have been used, Deputy Tracy Suitt said.

The first man is described as a light-skinned Hispanic or Caucasian with brown hair, a mustache and beard, and a medium build. In surveillance photos he is wearing a white t-shirt and a baseball cap, Suitt said.

The second man is described as a light-skinned Hispanic or Caucasian with brown hair, a slim build, and tattoos on his left arm. In surveillance photos he is wearing tan shorts, a red t-shirt and a black baseball cap, said Suitt.

The woman is described as a light-skinned Hispanic or Caucasian with brown hair, and a heavy build. In surveillance photos she is wearing black pants and a red University of Arizona t-shirt, Suitt said.

Anyone with information about the identity or location of the suspects should call 911 or 88-CRIME, he said.

Avoid vehicle break-ins

  • Park your vehicle in a well-lit area.
  • Do not leave wallets or purses in the vehicle. If these items are stolen, it could lead to identity theft.
  • Hide valuables from view before reaching your destination if you can't take them with you.
  • Avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
  • Lock your doors.
