Brewer: 'Longest 16 seconds of my life'

Video of gubernatorial debate

The pause heard 'round the world? Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer's looong moment of silence at the beginning of Wednesday night's debate has gone viral, with the clip posted far and wide on the Internet.

"My opening was not the finest hour. It was the longest 16 seconds of my life," Brewer told KTAR radio in Phoenix.

If you missed it, here's your chance to watch the entire debate between the candidates seeking election to the governor's seat.

Republican Brewer, Democrat Terry Goddard, Libertarian Barry Hess and Green Party candidate Larry Gist trade barbs (and moments of silence) as they try to prove their mettle.

Thursday, Goddard repeated his call for more six more debates around the state.

"It is our responsibility to give Arizonans clear information that will allow them to exercise their fundamental right to make an informed decision about  who should lead our state into the future.  Arizonans deserve more than a single discussion of the issues we face," he said in a news release.

Brewer told KTAR that Wednesday's head-to-head will be a singular event.

"I think people know what we stand for and which way we want to lead Arizona," Brewer said.
