Friday final day to request early primary ballot

Friday the 13th may have ominous overtones for some. This month, it certainly bears a burden of finality for political workers charged with getting out the vote.

Friday is the last day to request an early ballot for either the Democratic or Republican primary elections.

Independent voters may choose to vote in one of the Aug. 24 primaries.

Ballots may be requested from the Pima County Recorder's Office until 5 p.m.

Call 740-4330 or request an early ballot online. Early ballots may be returned by mail, delivered to the Recorder's office or dropped off at a polling place on election day.

Early voting has become important to political campaigns' "get out the vote" (GOTV) efforts. Knowing that early voters are consistent voters, campaigns spend much of their early efforts signing supporters up for the permanent early voter list.
