Man gets 48-month prison sentence for illegal entry

Sinaloa man had criminal history in Maricopa County

A 31-year-old Sinaloa man was sentenced to 48 months in prison for illegal entry into the United States because of a long criminal history, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Jorge Luis Marquez Lopez was sentenced Tuesday after attempting to re-enter the United States illegally near Lukeville on March 29. Marquez was convicted on July 14, 1999, in Maricopa County for aggravated assault with a weapon and was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.

Marquez had been deported on Dec. 8, 2005 from Brownsville, Texas.
