Border agents find $7.2 million pot stash
U.S. border agents discovered five abandoned vehicles containing a total of 683 bundles of marijuana on the Tohono O'odham Nation early Wednesday.
The 14,500 pounds of drugs are worth $7.2 million, according to an unsigned release from Customs and Border Protection.
The marijuana was located after sensors were tripped near the village of Ventana. Members of the West Desert Task Force, which includes Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, worked with CBP aircraft to find the stash.
The vehicles were seized and the marijuana turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, the release said.
