Two men assaulted a 25-year-old man following a beer theft on the Northwest Side on Wednesday, authorities said.

At about 1 p.m., deputies answered an aggravated assault call at the intersection of La Cholla Boulevard and Ruthrauff Road, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.

At the scene, deputies learned that the man and his 48-year-old father had been confronted by two unknown men. The son was assaulted when the situation escalated, said Deputy Tracy Suitt in a press release.

During the assault, the son was hit in the head with a solid object and sustained minor injuries, Suitt said.

The suspects were last seen running into a nearby neighborhood, he said.

Detectives investigating the incident discovered that just prior to the assault, the two suspects were involved in a beer theft at the Circle K at Ruthrauff Road and La Cholla Boulevard, Suitt said.

The suspects are described as an African American man in his mid-20s, tall with a slender build wearing a light colored tank top and dark shorts; and a Hispanic man in his mid-20s wearing a light colored shirt, jeans, and a ball cap.

The Sheriff's Department is trying to find the men so that they can be questioned about the incident, Suitt said.

Anyone one with any information about the suspects is urged to call 88-CRIME or 911, he said.
