Border Patrol seizes 740 pounds of pot

Two alleged traffickers arrested

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents seized two vehicles loaded with 740 pounds of marijuana and arrested two accused smugglers in separate incidents Wednesday, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Casa Grande Station agents working in a remote area of the west desert found an abandoned vehicle loaded with marijuana bundles.

Agents tracked footprints that led to a person with more bundles of the drug. The person was being held on for prosecution; the vehicle and drugs, which weighed 600 pounds, were seized.

Later on Wednesday, agents from the Willcox Station pulled over a suspicious vehicle on S.R. 80 and noticed the driver acting nervously a smell of marijuana, the agency said.

Agents searched the vehicle and found 101 bundles of marijuana weighing 140 pounds and worth with an estimated value of $70,350. The driver, was being held for prosecution and the vehicle and marijuana were taken to the Willcox Station for processing.
