Border Patrol agents from the Casa Grande and Ajo stations along with a Customs and Border Protection aircraft responded to assist the Tohono O'odham Police Department after a report about suspicious activity in the west desert. After a search of the area, a 41-year old U.S. citizen was arrested and three horses and several rounds of .45-caliber ammunition were seized. Record checks revealed the man had a prior arrest for manufacturing/distributing a controlled substance and a non-extraditable warrant issued in Show Low for a drug violation. The man, horses, and ammunition were turned over to the TOPD.
Ajo Station agents assigned to the All Terrain Unit, with the assistance of a CBP helicopter, discovered 16 bundles of marijuana abandoned on a mountaintop northeast of Lukeville. The marijuana, weighing approximately 590 pounds with an estimated value of $295,000, was transported to the Ajo Station for processing.
