J.C. Scott: City Council meeting recap

On Wednesday's edition:

We started the show with Washington commentator Jimmy Zuma, who gave his take on healthcare reform, immigration, aid to Egypt, President Obama's Insider Threat Program and continuing fallout from the release of classified NSA program information by alleged leaker Edward Snowden.

33 minutes into the show, we spoke with Ward 2 Tucson City Councilman Paul Cunningham, who discussed Tuesday's busy Council meeting. Topics included private management of the Tucson Convention Center and city-owned golf courses, water service changes, Bourn property discussions, Tucson's General Plan and Rio Nuevo development.

50 min: We were joined by TUSD Boardmember Mark Stegeman who reviewed Tuesday's Governing Board agenda. Subjects included cuts to arts programs, Superintendent H.T. Sanchez's first board meeting, teacher pay, problems with a $10 million IT software program, vandalism problems at closed schools, TUSD's public relations campaign and approval of a new culturally relevant curriculum.

69 min: We interviewed financial advisor Shelly Fishman, who joined us for the weekly segment "Your Financial Future;" a discussion of the latest moves in the financial markets. Fishman's topic of the day was national and international monetary policy.

79 min: We finished the show with Ward 6 Tucson City Councilman Steve Kozachik, who discussed Tuesday's meeting, including private management of the Tucson Convention Center and golf courses, Tucson Water changes, Bourn property discussions, Tucson's General Plan and Rio Nuevo development.
