Afternoon and evening thunderstorms, with dangerous lightning and erratic wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible Sunday, said the National Weather Service. An air quality alert, due to blowing dust, has been issued for Pinal County.

Storms are possible throughout Southern Arizona through Monday evening, with some having high winds and small hail, the Weather Service said.

There will be a decreasing chance of thunderstorms through Saturday, NWS said.

The storms are possible in the Tucson metro area, western Pima County including the Tohono O'odham Nation, southern Pinal County, the San Pedro River Valley and eastern Cochise County.

In Pinal County, the Department of Air Quality issued an air quality alert, warning of widespread blowing dust near Casa Grande, Coolidge, Florence and Apache Junction.

The dust will create a health risk, the agency said. Coarse particulate matter, known as PM-10, can aggravate heart and lung disease conditions.
