LD3 Senate candidates debate Tuesday
Democratic candidates for the state Senate from the West Side will debate Tuesday night at Pima Community College's West Campus.
The event, slated for 6 p.m., is sponsored by the Citizens Clean Elections Commission.
The debates for LD3, which includes Tucson's West Side, Drexel Heights and a portion of Midtown, will be in the Sentinel Building, Saguaro Room (J-605), at PCC's West Campus, 2200 W. Anklam Rd.
Running for the district's Senate seat are incumbent Olivia Cajero Bedford and challenger Salomon Baldenegro, Jr. The GOP does not have a candidate in the race, so the winner will be selected in the Aug. 26 Democratic primary. Early voting begins July 31.
The candidates receiving Clean Elections public campaign financing — both Baldenegro and Cajero Bedford — are required to participate in the debate, which will feature written questions from the audience and the Clean Elections Commission.
A list of all candidates for this year's primary election can be found on the state's Clean Elections website.
