Clinton: Feds will sue over Az immigration law; no confirmation

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told an Ecuador TV station that the Justice Department will sue over Arizona's controversial law cracking down on illegal immigration, but the Obama Administration would not confirm it Thursday.

The Right Scoop reports that Clinton told NTN24 of Quito, Ecuador, on June 8:

President Obama has spoken out against the law because he thinks that the federal government should be determining immigration policy. And the Justice Department, under his direction, will be bringing a lawsuit against the act.

However, Justice Department spokesman Matthew Miller would not confirm Clinton's statements, telling Reuters only that "the department continues to review the law."

KGUN-TV  reported that Gov. Jan Brewer was stunned and angered to learn through the interview about the lawsuit.
