Why checkpoint stop yields 126 lbs. of marijuana
Border Patrol agents at the State Route 85 checkpoint near Why, Ariz., arrested two men Saturday after agents discovered 126 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $63,000, according to a release from the agency.
On Saturday morning, around 10 a.m., agents with the Ajo Station stopped a white Saturn at the checkpoint and asked the men about their immigration status.
The passenger became "uncooperative and very argumentative" and agents sent the vehicle to secondary inspection where a drug-sniffing dog walked around the car and alerted to the presence of drugs in truck, the release said. Agents searched the vehicle and discovered six bundles of marijuana.
The two men, both American citizens, were arrested and the marijuana and vehicle was seized, the release said.
