TPD: Dead man found in vehicle 2 days after drive-by shooting

A man was found dead on the South Side Tuesday in a vehicle that was involved in a drive-by shooting Sunday morning, police said.

The dead man was identified as 35-year-old Jesus Alcarez-Ruiz, said a TPD spokesman in a news release.

Ruiz was found after a 911 caller reported Tuesday that a white vehicle with multiple bullet holes was located in the parking lot at the back of an industrial building in the 6200 block of South Sears Boulevard, near South Campbell Avenue and East Bilby Road, said Sgt. Pete Dugan.

When police arrived at the business and located the vehicle, they found that a man in the passenger seat had obvious signs of gunshot trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Dugan said.

Detectives determined that the white vehicle was the same one involved in a drive-by shooting Sunday, he said.

A possible drive-by shooting was reported in the area of East Valencia Road and South Tucson Boulevard at about 11:42 a.m. Sunday, Dugan said.

A 911 caller reported that multiple shots had been fired from a passenger vehicle at a white passenger vehicle and that one of the occupants had possibly been wounded. Police responded, but were unable to locate either vehicle, Dugan said.

Next of kin have been notified, Dugan said.
