A 17-year-old boy is dead after a shooting just outside Marana on Friday morning. The Pima County Sheriff's Department said the incident "appears to have been accidental."
Friday night, authorities identified the dead teen: Luis Angel Lopez Jr.
Lopez received a "a fatal injury as the result of a gunshot wound which appears to have been accidental," said a department spokesman.
PCSD released the name of another man described as an "involved party." That man, a 19 year old, was "in possession of the gun," PCSD Deputy Daniel Jelineo said.
"At this time it is unknown if there will be any charges," the deputy said.
Without further information, TucsonSentinel.com is withholding the name of the second man, as it is unclear at this point if he may be a crime victim or witness.
The incident took place in the 8000 block of North Country Home Lane, near North Camino de Oeste between West Cortaro Farms Road and West Linda Vista Boulevard.
While investigating the shooting, detectives found a "suspected explosive device" inside the home, Jelineo said. The object was removed by the the Pima Regional Bomb Squad.
While there is an "active and ongoing investigation," Jelineo said earlier, "we would like to let the public know that this was an isolated incident and there is no present danger."
