J.C. Scott: Formula One in Southern Arizona?

On Thursday's edition:

We started with Ward 4 Tucson City Councilwoman Shirley Scott, who talked about El Rio Golf Course and Grand Canyon University, the city budget, employee raises and pension costs.

17 minutes into the show, we were joined by Lee Shaw of the Fathers Day Council and Dr. Fayez Ghishan, director of the Steele Children's Research Center, who promoted the upcoming 'Father of the Year" award, a fundraiser June 14 at Lowes Ventana Canyon Resort to benefit the center and research on type 1 diabetes.

38 min: We talked with Tucson Weekly writer Jim Nintzel, who gave a rundown of this week's issue.

52 min: We were joined by the administrator of Tucsoncitizen.com, Mark Evans, whose latest article "An F1 racetrack in Tucson will cost hundreds of millions of dollars" highlighted the challenges Tucson would face trying to bring Formula One racing to the area. Other subjects included the City Council and Legislature.

89 min: We finished the show with Vail School Superintendent Calvin Baker, whose district is considering converting several schools to charters. He also talked about school funding  in the wake of the expired one-cent sales tax for education.
