Help paint Pima County's history

Arizona will celebrate 100 years of statehood on Feb. 14, 2012.

To celebrate the state's centennial, the Pima County Library is compiling the stories and photos of lifelong county residents.

The library wants to interview Pima County residents 100 years of age or older to learn more about their lives and the area's development.

Interviews will last about an hour, and will be held at a convenient location, said the Pima County virtual library manager Jen Maney.

“This is a great tie-in with the centennial next year,” Maney said.

The stories and pictures will be posted on the Arizona Memory Project’s website.

So far no interviews have been conducted, but project organizers hope to begin them soon, Maney said.

Want to participate?

If you or someone you know would like to participate in the project you can contact Jan Maney at (520) 594-5632 or at Jen.Maney@pima.gov or Janet Quackenbush at (520) 594-5358 or at Janet.Quackenbush@pima.gov.
