Tucson's Western Meat recalling ground beef

Concerns about possible E. coli contamination have prompted Tucson-based Western Meat to recall packaged ground beef sold for over a year. Five and 10-pound packages of meat sold between Jan. 1, 2014 and April 20, 2015, pose "a remote probability of adverse health consequences," Arizona officials said.

The beef carries a possible E. coli 0157:H7 health risk, said Laura Oxley, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Agriculture.

"If you have this meat in your freezer or refrigerator, make a note of how much you have and destroy it or return it to Western Meat for reimbursement," she said.

If you have questions about any ground beef you might have purchased, contact Sonny Jocic at Western Meat at 327-1868.
