About 900 graduates walked across the stage at Pima Community College's commencement Thursday, as a packed arena at the Tucson Convention Center echoed with cheers from thousands of friends and family members.

PCC had its second-largest graduating class in the school's history this year, with 3,732 students earning 5,856 degrees and certificates.

Many of them waited through the two-hour ceremony Thursday night for the opportunity to walk across the stage, shake hands with college officials and hear shouts of encouragement when their name was announced.
