Incumbent Fimbres files for reelection
Southside Democrat Richard Fimbres filed the maximum number of nominating signatures to qualify for the ballot Tuesday, as he seeks reelection to the Tucson City Council.
Fimbres filed 482 signatures, having gathered 812 on petitions in Ward 5, a statement from his campaign said.
Republican challenger Mike Polak, a political newcomer, filed his nominating petitions last week. Needing just 69 to gain access to the GOP ballot in the ward, the owner of Desert Armory Gun Parts and Accessories turned in 131.
Also running are incumbent Democrat Karin Uhlich and repeat GOP challenger Ben Buehler-Garcia in Ward 3. Newly minted Democrat Steve Kozachik is seeking reelection; no Republican has yet to file to run against him.
