Man arrested after attempt to smuggle heroin, meth, coke
An 18-year-old Mexican man was arrested after attempting to smuggle 57 pounds of cocaine, 3 pounds of methamphetamine and 2.5 pounds of heroin through the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced Monday.
The man was referred for a secondary inspection of the vehicle he was driving Wednesday after a CBP canine alerted officers to potential drugs. Officers discovered 22 packages of cocaine, two packages of meth and one package of heroin, CBP said.
The drugs, worth a combined $595,000, and the vehicle were seized. The man was turned over to ICE's Homeland Security Investigations.
