More by Dylan Smith

Padding along atop the border fence near Naco, a mountain lion was spotlighted by a Border Patrol officer recently.

Posted on Facebook by the Arizona Game and Fish Department, a photograph shows the big cat making its way along the top of the border barrier, some 15-20 feet up.

Officials didn't indicate which side of the border the mountain lion eventually leaped down on, or whether it was carrying documents.

I’ve seen bobcats galore just on the edges of the city, but once encountered a mountain lion just west of Greasewood, hiking up a trail behind the Tolson Elementary about a decade ago.
