TPD: Elderly man with dementia still missing
Tucson Police say an elderly man who suffers from dementia has been missing for nearly a week.
Arthur "Art" Hartung, 77, was reported missing from his home in the 4200 block of N. Limberlost Circle last Wednesday morning. His wife believes he left the home between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. last Tuesday while she was out, TPD spokeswoman Sgt. Maria Hawke said last week.
While Hartung's credit card was used near Winterhaven, Calif., within 24 hours of his disappearance, it has since been used in the Tucson area, Hawke said in an update on Tuesday afternoon.
Hartung suffers from dementia and can become confused. He also needs medications for other health conditions, Hawke said.
"He is still in need of medication," she said.
Hartung's vehicle, a white 2001 Chevrolet Blazer with license plate 1465VT, was also missing from the residence, Hawke said.
He is described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 175 pounds, bald with a white beard and has blue eyes and a 1-inch scar above is left eye. He may be wearing a dark-colored T-shirt, black sweatpants, dark slip-on canvas shoes and eyeglasses.
Anyone with information about the location of Hartung or his vehicle is asked to call 911.
