Oro Valley names new town manager
Greg Caton had been interim town manager for 10 months
Oro Valley has named Interim Town Manager Greg Caton as town manager.
Town Council approved Caton, who has served as interim town manager for the last 10 months, for the post at its Wednesday meeting.
“During his ten months as interim town manager, Greg Caton has taken Oro Valley to new heights,” said Mayor Satish Hiremath in a press release.
“He is thoughtful, innovative, a consensus builder and regarded by regional leaders as someone who will strengthen Southern Arizona as a whole. As mayor, it truly is an honor and privilege to work beside him,” Hiremath said.
Caton is credited with helping to build a partnership with Tucson Water for the delivery of CAP water to the town's residents and a $3.45 million upgrade to the community's aquatic center.
"I’m thankful for the opportunity to expand my role with the Town of Oro Valley and continue serving the citizens of this community," Caton said in the press release.
Caton has worked for the Town of Oro Valley since November 2010, served as assistant city manager for Durango, Colo., and has 15 years of experience in pubic service and municiple government, the press release said.
He has a bachelor's degree in political science from Fort Lewis College in Colorado and the a master's degree in public administration from the University of Colorado, Denver.
