Proposition 100
Voter registration deadline at midnight
One-cent tax would be dedicated to education, health care, public safety
If you're inclined to vote in the May 18 special election on the proposed sales tax, make sure you're registered by midnight Monday.
Proposition 100 would institute a temporary one-cent increase in Arizona's sales tax, from 5.6 to 6.6 cents on each dollar.
Two-thirds of the revenue from the increase would be earmarked for education, with the remainder dedicated to health care and public safety. The tax bump would be in effect for three years.
Oro Valley's Town Council election will also be May 18.
Voters must register or re-register if they are new Pima County residents, have changed residence, or changed their name or party affiliation.
Early voting begins April 22.
Voter registration may be completed online.
