Shooting suspect checks into hospital after one killed, another wounded on NW Side

A man suspected of shooting a 21-year-old to death and wounding another on Monday afternoon sought treatment at a hospital after the incident, authorities said.

Around 4 p.m., the unidentified suspect shot at at least two other people among a group in a camper trailer parked at a home in a neighborhood near West Ina Road and North Camino de la Tierra, authorities said.

Deputies responding to the scene in the 3500 block of West Amber Terrace found two men with gunshot wounds:  Jaisaac Sloan, 21, and Austin Buckshaw, 20.

Despite first aid efforts, Sloan was pronounced dead at the scene, and Buckshaw was taken to Banner University Medical Center with serious injuries, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.

While the three and other people were inside the camper, "the suspect pulled a gun from a backpack and began to fire," Deputy Ryan Inglett said.

While Inglett didn't confirm how the suspect was injured, residents of the neighborhood said one of the victims or another person at the scene had shot back at him.

The case is under investigation by PCSD homicide detectives, Inglett said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or to submit an anonymous tip, with a potential reward, via 88-CRIME, Inglett said.
