Michelle Obama

First lady to make fundraising stop in Tucson

First lady Michelle Obama will make a fundraising stop in Tucson later this month, Democratic Party insiders said.

The event, slated for April 30, would draw about 500 Barack Obama supporters invited to a fundraiser, likely to be held at the Tucson Convention Center.

Details of the event, including ticket prices, aren't yet available.

"It hasn't been firmed up. It is a possibility," said Jeff Rogers, Pima County Democratic Party chairman.

The first lady;s appearance in Tucson is yet another indication that Democrats intend to make a push in Arizona in this fall's election.

While native son McCain carried the state in 2008, President Obama garnered 45 percent of the vote.
