Patterson denies 'vague' misconduct allegations

State Rep. Daniel Patterson on Tuesday denied, point-by-point, allegations of misconduct in a written response to an Ethics Committee investigation.

That committee may take action Tuesday to recommend Patterson be expelled from the Legislature.

Patterson, who left the Democratic Party last week after his own caucus moved to unseat him, repeatedly denied the allegations against him in a 19-page response.

The ethics report detailing those allegations, which was released last week, "fails tests of what a true independent investigation should be," Patterson wrote, and said "nearly all the claims ... are not substantiated."

Patterson said the report is "much too full of vague and unsupported anonymous claims ...."
