Daily Star court reporter leaving to work for juvie system
Kim Smith, for eight years the court reporter for the Arizona Daily Star, is leaving to be a spokeswoman for the Pima County Juvenile Court. Smith will wind up her reporting career at the end of the week.
"After more than 23 years as a journalist and nearly eight years at the Arizona Daily Star, I am embarking on a new adventure," she posted on Facebook.
"I'm ready to see what the future holds, but will certainly miss the newspaper biz," she wrote.
Prior to working for the Star, Smith was a reporter for the East Valley Tribune (Mesa) for two years, and worked for the Las Vegas Sun from 1999-2002.
She earned a journalism degree from the University of Arizona in 1989.
