8th St. project closes sections of 4th Ave.

As the Eighth Street Drainage Improvement project continues, construction will limit traffic along Fourth Avenue, and affect traffic patterns downtown.

The City of Tucson said motorists can expect to find the following:

  • The intersection of Fourth and Eighth is closed through the end of April
  • Fourth, between Seventh and Ninth streets will be closed to through traffic, ocal access and business deliveries will be allowed
  • Drivers will be detoured around work along Fourth between Seventh and Ninth streets
  • Eighth Street, between Hoff and Fifth avenues is closed

The city also is advising that new stop signs have been placed on northbound Sixth Avenue at Seventh Street to create a three-way stop. The change is in preparation of converting Sixth Avenue to two-way traffic between Sixth and Seventh streets.

Motorists are advised to follow detours, expect delays and use caution for pedestrians and bicycle traffic in the construction areas.
