Poll: Border control trumps legalizing immigrants
More than half of American voters believe that when it comes to immigration reform, border control should be the top priority, a poll released Monday said.
Sixty percent of voters said that securing the border is more important that legalizing undocumented workers already in the United States, while 33 percent believe the opposite, the poll said.
Of the 1,000 likely voters surveyed by conservative pollster Rasmussen Reports, 56 percent said the federal government encourages illegal immigration, 27 percent disagreed and 17 percent said they were not sure.
The survey was conducted March 19 through March 20 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
