Stuffed peppers: $1.2M marijuana load sniffed out in Nogales
Green peppers weren't the only crop in the back of tractor-trailer at the commercial port in Nogales on Tuesday.
Stuffed among the peppers was 2,476 pounds of marijuana worth more than $1.2 million, according to a release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Officers arrested Mexican national Sixto Hernandez-Apodaca, 51, after a drug dog alerted to 308 packages of marijuana hidden among the peppers, the release said.
The tractor-trailer and the drugs were seized, while Hernandez was handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
