BP air crew rescues injured man from mountains

A 26-year-old man was rescued by a Border Patrol helicopter crew Tuesday after falling in a remote area of the Boboquivari Mountains and breaking his leg, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

A Tucson Sector BORSTAR crew found the man, who had entered the country of illegally, while patrolling the region southwest of Tucson, the Border Patrol said.

The man, who is from Mexico, broke his leg after rolling down a hill. He was air-lifted out of the mountains by the air crew in a Blackhawk helicopter, the Border Patrol said.

Because of the rough terrain, BORSTAR agents had remove the man from the area using a rope attached to the helicopter, the Border Patrol said.

The man was taken to a Tucson hospital for treatment.
