Man charged in two Monday shooting deaths
A man has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the Monday shootings of two men standing in a Midtown front yard, said a Tucson Police spokesman.
Daniel M. Renteria, 27, was arrested Tuesday after he called 911 and turned himself in, said Sgt. Fabian Pacheco in a news release.
Richard Rue Jr., 40, and James J. Marschinke, 49, were pronounced dead at the scene, in the 5300 block of East 25th Street. The shootings were reported at 11:07 a.m.
Witnesses told police that a man driving a newer model Chevrolet Monte Carlo confronted the victims in the front yard of a residence. The man brandished a handgun and shot both victims.
The vehicle was found engulfed in flames near South 13th Street and West Montana Street on Monday afternoon.
