Modern Streetcar contractor chosen
RTA to hold open houses with information about project
Old Pueblo Trackworks has been chosen to head the construction for the Modern Streetcar, the city announced Wednesday.
The public can learn more about the project at three pre-construction open houses to be held Tuesday through Thursday.
The presentations will give the community a chance to meet the project team, learn about the construction process and the benefits of Tucson Modern Streetcar, said City spokeswoman Nicole Ewing-Gavin.
“These open houses are a great way to provide the community with construction information so they understand how it may impact their day to day schedule,” said Jesse Gutierrez, construction manager for the Modern Streetcar Project.
Each open house will be two hours and will include a 15-minute presentation and information about the work schedule, traffic control, utility upgrades, business access and parking information, said Ewing-Gavin.
The $2.1 billion Regional Transportation Authority project is be ongoing through 2026. As the construction process begins, the Tucson Modern Streetcar team plans to keep the public informed with current updates, the RTA said.
Updates can be viewed through Facebook and Twitter during the construction process. For more information, visit www.tucsonstreetcar.com.
