Police investigating gang-related shooting

An early morning shooting left one man dead, and another with life-threatening injuries Wednesday, said a Tucson police spokesman.

Officers found two men suffering from gunshot trauma in the 2600 block of North Winstel Boulevard, near North Alvernon Way and East Glenn Street, around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, said TPD Sgt. Fabian Pacheco.

Both men were taken to the hospital, where one was pronounced dead. The second remains hospitalized in critical condition. The identity of the dead man has not been released, pending notification of his relatives.

Police report the victims are affiliated with a gang. A motive for the shooting has not yet been determined.

Officers continue to investigate the case. Pacheco urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
