Immigrants found hiding in trunk at I-19 checkpoint

Border Patrol agents found two Mexican nationals hiding in the trunk of a car on Tuesday, and arrested a third at the I-19 checkpoint on Tuesday.

The two men were traveling in the trunk of a Buick Century when agents stopped the vehicle, according to a release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Agents arrested the driver, a U.S. citizen, as well as the front passenger, who was also undocumented, the release said.

On Wednesday morning, agents at the checkpoint found three packages of heroin worth around $45,000 hidden in the underwear of a teen from Mexico, the agency said.

The girl had a visitor's visa and was traveling on a local shuttle service to Tucson when she was arrested.

Deputies from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office took custody of girl and the drugs, the agency said.
