Mentally handicapped woman missing on South Side

  • Alvarez-Bernal

Sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help in finding a Hispanic woman missing from her South Side home. Alexis Margarita Alvarez-Bernal, 20, suffers from schizophrenia and has the mental capacity of a five-year-old, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman said.

Alvarez-Bernal has been missing from the 5800 block of South Aldorn Drive, near East Benson Highway and East Drexel Road, since about 5 p.m. Her family reported her absence to deputies at 6:53 p.m., said PSCD Deputy Dawn Barkman.

Alvarez-Bernal is 5 feet 6 inches tall, of average build with shoulder-length black hair, Barkman said.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts should call 911, Barkman said.
