Police on hunt for cigarette bandit
Man robs stores of $6,000 in smokes
The Tucson Police Department is asking for help identifying a serial burglary suspect who may have quite the smoking habit.
The man is believed to have committed at least 19 burglaries in the Midtown and West Side of the city, said Sgt. Maria Hawke, TPD spokeswoman.
In most of the incidents, the suspect enters the store, walks behind the counter and fills a bag with cigarettes then leaves the store, Hawke said.
There have been no physical confrontations, she said.
The cigarette bandit has made off with about $6,000 in smokes, Hawke said.
The man is described as white with brown hair, in his 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 145 pounds. He may be connected to a white Ford Ranger with a blue stripe along the bottom, Hawke said.
Anyone with information can call 911 or 88-CRIME.
