Coyote found guilty of human smuggling
Man led group across border in November
A 26-year-old Mexican man was found guilty of human smuggling Wednesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.
Berlain "El Chato" Galvez Lopez was convicted of three counts of smuggling aliens for private financial gain, the Border Patrol said Thursday.
Border Patrol agents from the Casa Grande Station followed several sets of footprints in November that led to a group who had entered the country illegally, the Border Patrol said.
During processing at the station, agents were able to identify Galvez as the foot guide, or "coyote," of the group. It also was discovered that he had two removals from the United States, the Border Patrol said.
Galvez is scheduled to be sentenced on April 12.
