U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick will "revive the tradition" of face-to-face meetings with constituents, holding her first "Congress On Your Corner" on Saturday on Tucson's Southeast Side, her staff said.

The CD 2 Democrat will be at a Safeway store, 6360 E. Golf Links Rd., from 10 a.m. to noon.

Speaking with constituents along with the congresswoman will be her district director, Ron Barber, who was shot in the Jan. 8, 2011, assassination attempt on then-Rep. Gabrielle Giffords that killed six and wounded 13. Barber was elected to represent Southeastern Arizona in Congress after Giffords resigned. He lost in 2014 to Martha McSally, who did not seek re-election last year as she unsuccessfully ran for the U.S. Senate against Kyrsten Sinema.

Barber held several such events during his own time in office, following on Giffords' use of the Democratic Party's brand for one-on-one meetings with constituents held in public places.

Members of Kirkpatrick's staff will also be present to assist the public with issues they may be having with federal agencies.
