More cold, more ice: Freeze warning again Weds night

The National Weather Service is warning of another night of widespread freezing weather throughout the Tucson area, and to the west on the Tohono O'odham Nation. Temperatures could drop to 28 degrees in some areas.

A freeze warning will be in effect from midnight through 9 a.m. Thursday, with temperatures of 32 degrees or lower possible, officials said.

Freezing is expected throughout the Tucson area, with the city, Green Valley, Vail, Marana, Oro Valley, Oracle, Picacho Peak, Avra Valley and Sells covered by the warning.

Wrap your pipes, cover your plants, bring your pets inside and be kind to people who are outdoors at night. NWS is forecasting temperatures may drop as low as 28 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to hit 32 degrees around midnight, with the lowest readings between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. Thursday.

Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, many parts of Southern Arizona experienced freezing weather, with the thermometer at Tucson International Airport hitting 32 degrees at 5:48 a.m.
