The thermometer on your back porch could read as low as 28 degrees just before sunup, with the National Weather Service warning of freezing temperatures overnight throughout the Tucson area, and to the west on the Tohono O'odham Nation.

A freeze warning will be in effect from midnight through 9 a.m. Wednesday, with temperatures of 32 degrees or lower possible, officials said.

Freezing is expected throughout the Tucson area, with the city, Green Valley, Vail, Marana, Oro Valley, Oracle, Picacho Peak, Avra Valley and Sells covered by the warning.

Wrap your pipes, cover your plants, bring your pets inside and be kind to people who are outdoors at night. NWS is forecasting temperatures may drop as low as 28 degrees.
