County re-shouldering Camino de la Tierra
Beginning Monday, Pima County Department of Transportation workers, along with a contractor, Southern Arizona Paving, will begin shoulder work and other construction from Camino de la Tierra through to Highway Drive and Curtis Road.
The scope of work includes centerline realignment to accommodate paved shoulders through the project limits, curve correction to increase super elevation at the two curves within the corridor and shoulder widening to add paved shoulders. These changes will increase safety, officials said.
Other project activities include potholing for utilities, surveying and clearing and grubbing.
Work will occur along Camino de la Tierra as it turns into Highway Drive and then to Curtis Road, on the Northwest Side near Interstate 10, south of River Road. Flagging operations and sheriff's deputies will be present. Hours of operations will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices, officials said. The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph within the work zone. Work is expected to be completed by summer 2019.
