Safeway, other stores reopened after Giffords shooting
The Safeway where a Saturday shooting rampage took the lives of six has reopened, as have the other stores in the same shopping center, authorities said Thursday.
All stores in the La Toscana Village shopping center at the intersection of North Oracle and West Ina roads have reopened, said Deputy Jason Ogan, a spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
The FBI have completed their investigation at the shopping center, he said.
A shooting rampage that included the attempted assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords killed six and left 13 wounded, including the congresswoman.
She remained in intensive care Thursday, after being shot in the head "through and through."
"We recognize how difficult it was for the merchants to have the shopping center blocked off during the course of the investigation. The Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI would like to thank the merchants for their patience and support. We encourage citizens to patronize the merchants as they had before this incident," Ogan said.
